A collection of Sass utility functions.

Install SassFunk

SassFunk can be installed as a Ruby gem, via Bower, or manually.

When installing as a Ruby Gem, SassFunk will be installed as a Compass extension if Compass is installed on your system:

$ gem install SassFunk

To install via bower run:

$ bower install --save-dev sassfunk

For a manual install, include dist/SassFunk.scss in the appropriate directory of your project.

SassFunk is also on Sache.

What's inside

sfnk-colors-complement( $colors )

Returns the list of complementary colors for a list of colors.

sfnk-colors-darken( $colors, $value )

Returns the list of colors darkened by $value.

sfnk-colors-desaturate( $colors, $value )

Returns the list of colors desatureated by $value.

sfnk-colors-grayscale( $colors )

Returns the list of equivalent grayscale colors to $colors.

sfnk-colors-invert( $colors )

Returns the list of inverted colors.

sfnk-colors-lighten( $colors, $value )

Returns the list of colors lightened by $value.

sfnk-colors-mix( $colors )

Returns a single color that is the mix of $colors.

sfnk-colors-saturate( $colors, $value )

Returns the list of colors saturated by $value.

sfnk-is-color-list( $list )

Returns a bool whether $list consists of color values only.

$list: (#fff, green, rgba(255, 255, 255, .5));

sfnk-is-color-list($list)
>> true

sfnk-is-nested-list( $list )

Returns a bool whether $list contains any items that are lists.

$list:			(1, 2, 3, 4);
$nested-list:   (1, 2, (3, 4));

sfnk-is-nested-list($list)
>> false

sfnk-is-nested-list($nested-list)
>> true

sfnk-is-numeric-list( $list )

Returns a bool whether $list consists of numbers only.

$list1: (1, 12px, 4, 1.5.em)
$list2: (1, '12px', 4, 1.5em)

sfnk-is-numeric-list($list1)
>> true

sfnk-is-numeric-list($list1)
>> false

sfnk-is-type-list( $list, $type )

Returns a bool whether all items of $list are of type $type.

$list: (test, '17px', green)

sfnk-is-type-list($list, string)
>> true

sfnk-is-type-list($list, color)
>> false

sfnk-is-valid-border( $border, [$strict:false] )

Returns a bool whether $border is a valid CSS border statement. Pass $strict: trueto check whether $border is a complete shorthand CSS border statement consisting of border-width, border-style, and border-color.

$border1: 1px;
$border2: 1px solid #000;

sfnk-is-valid-border($border1)
>> true

sfnk-is-valid-border($border2)
>> true

sfnk-is-valid-border($border1, $strict: true)
>> false

sfnk-is-valid-border($border2, $strict: true)
>> true

sfnk-list-contains-all( $list1, $list2 )

Returns a bool whether $list1 contains all items of $list2.

$list1: (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
$list2: (1, 2)
$list3: (5, 6)

sfnk-list-contains-all($list1, $list2)
>> true

sfnk-list-contains-all($list1, $list3)
>> false

sfnk-list-contains( $list, $value )

Returns a bool whether $list contains $value.

sfnk-list-mapify( $list )

Creates a map from a nested $list where the keys are the first items of the items of $list, the value the remaining items of each item of $list.

$list: (border 1px solid black, outline 2px blue)

sfnk-list-mapify($list)
>> (border: 1px solid black, outline: 2px blue)

sfnk-list-prepend( $list, $value )

Returns $listprepended with $value.

$list: (2, 3, 4, 5)

sfnk-list-prepend($list, 1)
>> (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

sfnk-list-reject-all( $list, $value )

Returns $list with all occurences of $value removed.

$list: (1, 2, 1, 3, 4, 1, 5)

sfnk-list-reject-all($list, 1)
>> (2, 3, 4, 5)

sfnk-list-reject-nth( $list, $index, [$pos: 1] )

Rejects the item at $index from $list. Pass $pos: -1 to reject the item at $index from the end of $list.

$list: (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

sfnk-list-reject-nth($list, 2)
>> (1, 3, 4, 5)

sfnk-list-reject-nth($list, 2, -1)
>> (1, 2, 3, 5)

sfnk-list-reject( $list, $value, [$pos: 1])

Rejects first occurence of $value from $list. Pass $pos: -1to reject the last occurence.

$list: (1, 2, 3, 2, 1);
sfnk-list-reject($list, 2)
>> (1, 3, 2, 1)
sfnk-list-reject($list, 2, -1)
>> (1, 2, 3, 1)

sfnk-list-reverse( $list )

Reverses $list.

$list: (1, 2, 3, 4);
sfnk-list-reverse($list)
>> (4, 3, 2, 1)

sfnk-map-listify-deep( $map )

Like sfnk-map-listify(), but recursive.

$map: (hover: (border: 1px solid black, outline: 2px blue)

sfnk-map-listify-deep($map)
>> (hover (border 1px solid black, outline 2px blue))

sfnk-map-listify( $map )

Creates a list of list items from $map, where the keys of map become the first item in each list item of $list.

$map: (border: 1px solid black, outline: 2px blue)

sfnk-map-listify($map)
>> (border 1px solid black, outline 2px blue)

sfnk-map-set( $map, $key, $value )

Sets key $key in $map to $value.
